Your first quote in 30 seconds

Everything you need to know to send your first professional quote — and all the bits that make it even better.

Add Standout Tradesman to your home screen

Open the app like a proper app — one tap from your phone's home screen, no browser bar in the way. Takes about 10 seconds to set up.

  1. 1 Open this page in Safari, then tap the Share button at the bottom
  2. 2 Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen"
  3. 3 Tap Add in the top-right corner — done!

💡 Must be done in Safari. If you're using Chrome on iPhone, copy the URL and open it in Safari first.

Sending your first quote

It really does take about 30 seconds once your profile is set up. Here's the whole process from start to finish.

1
🔑
Create your free account — no card needed
Sign up with your email and get instant access. You don't need a credit card to start. Your first 3 quotes are completely free.
2
Complete your profile in 5 minutes
Add your business name, trade, logo, and a few sentences about your work. This information goes directly into every quote you send — the more complete your profile, the better your quotes.
3
Go to New Quote
Enter the customer's name, address, and their email if you want to track whether they respond. Choose whether you're sending a Quote (firm price) or an Estimate (indicative pricing).
4
Tap the microphone and describe the job out loud
30 seconds is plenty. Just talk naturally — "It's a bathroom refurb, new toilet and basin, remove old tiles and retile the walls, two walls about 4 square metres each." We handle the rest.
5
Review the draft we wrote — edit anything you want
We generate a full draft with scope of works, materials, labour pricing, and terms. You can edit every word and every price before anything goes to your customer. You're always in control.
6
📤
Send it via WhatsApp or email
Copy the link and paste it into WhatsApp, or enter the customer's email directly. They receive a professional branded document — your logo, your colours, your name. No app download required on their end.

Setting up your profile — the bits that make quotes better

We use everything in your profile when we write your quotes. A fuller profile means a more accurate, more personalised result every time.

Your logo
Appears on every quote and estimate. Even a simple photo of your van signage or a text logo works — it immediately makes the document look professional. Upload it in Your brand.
Hourly or day rate
Tell us how you charge and your rate. We'll price labour correctly in every quote — whether you charge £45/hour, £380/day, or £200/half-day. Set it once, every quote gets it right automatically.
I or We
Do you say "I will carry out the work" or "We will carry out the work"? One toggle, consistent throughout every quote. Sole traders use I; limited companies typically use We.
Preferred suppliers
Tell us which merchants you buy from — Screwfix, Travis Perkins, Wolseley, Jewson. We'll specify their products in your materials lists, making the quotes more accurate and easier to order from.
Your colour theme
Pick a ready-made scheme to match your brand — Default (amber on navy), Forest (deep green with sage), Slate (charcoal with silver), or Burgundy (deep wine with warm gold) — or choose Custom and set your own header and accent colours with a colour picker. Takes about 10 seconds in Your brand.

What your customer sees

Your customer receives a link — no app download, no account needed on their side.

When you share the quote link, your customer opens a professional branded document in their browser — your logo at the top, your business name, your colour scheme, your contact details.

They can accept, decline, or ask you a question directly from the page. If you sent an Estimate, they can request a formal Quote instead. All of this happens with one tap — no sign-up, no friction.

If they accept, you get an email notification immediately so you can call them while the job is fresh in their mind.

If they don't respond within 3 days, a polite follow-up is sent automatically on your behalf — something like "just checking you had a chance to look over the quote." This is a paid account feature. Most tradespeople find it gets them one or two extra responses a month without any effort.

You can see all of this activity in your dashboard activity feed — every accept, decline, and question shows up in real time.

Understanding your dashboard

Everything you need to track your quotes and measure how you're performing.

Win rate panel
Your percentage of sent quotes that become won jobs. The industry average for tradespeople is 40–50%. We show you how you compare and a month-by-month trend so you can see if you're improving.
Activity feed
A live stream of everything that's happened — quotes sent, customer responses, questions asked, follow-ups sent. Sorted by most recent so you always know what needs attention.
✓✗ Won / Lost marking
For quotes sent more than 48 hours ago, you'll see a prompt to mark them Won or Lost. This feeds your win rate and helps you understand which jobs you're securing. Takes two taps.
Quote status chips
Each quote shows a status at a glance:

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be technical to use this?

No. If you can send a WhatsApp, you can use this. The hardest part is tapping the microphone button.

What trades does it work for?

Plumbing & Heating, Building & General Construction, Electrical, Kitchens & Bathrooms, Roofing, Heating & Renewable Energy, Painting & Decorating, Landscaping, Carpentry & Joinery, Plastering & Rendering, Flooring, Glazing & Windows — and a general option for everything else.

Can I edit the quote before I send it?

Yes. We generate a first draft. You can edit every word, every price, every line item before anything goes to the customer. You're always in control of what gets sent.

What does my customer actually receive?

A link to a professional branded quote page — your logo, your business name, your colours. They can accept, decline, or ask a question directly from the page. No app download required.

Does it follow up with customers automatically?

Yes — if a customer hasn't responded within 3 days, a polite follow-up is sent automatically on your behalf. This is a paid account feature.

Can I use it for estimates as well as quotes?

Yes. You choose whether to produce an Estimate (indicative pricing) or a Quote (firm price) each time. Both look equally professional.

Is there a contract?

No. Cancel anytime from your billing page. No questions, no notice period.

What happens to my data?

Your data is stored securely and never shared or sold. Full details in our Privacy Policy.

Can I save jobs I do regularly as templates?

Yes. After generating any quote, tap "Save as template" to save the job description. Next time you do the same job, select the template and it pre-fills — then you just tweak the details for the specific customer.
